Italian film director Angelo Drovetti’s 1924 silent film Dall’Italia All’Australia (From Italy to Australia) screened with a live music accompaniment provided by 4 piece band “I Viaggiatori” (The Voyagers). The work is regarded by many as the most comprehensive film ever made of a migrant voyage. It chronicles the voyage of the passenger steam ship Regina d’Italia (Queen of Italy) during an epic 8,000-nautical-mile, seven-week world odyssey from Genoa to Australia, by way of Egypt and Sri Lanka. The film features fascinating footage of each port and city including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.  “I Viaggiatori”, with acclaimed musicians including Kavisha Mazzella, brings the film to life, with a multitude of instruments including guitar, accordion, bouzouki, mandolin and sax.
